Violet Vintage Jewellery, London

Who doesn't love Vintage jewellery??

I absolutely love the stuff. There's no such feeling as finding a gorgeous piece of jewellery: a piece that's a one off to have in your red velvet jewellery trinket box. So when I saw a small article in Look magazine about a website dedicated to the yummy vintage stuff I ran to my desk to check out the products.

The pieces are incredible: (some too expensive for my student purse strings, but if I had the money..yes please) even the name, 'Violet Vintage Jewellery' is cute and stylish. The company even has a reworked section on the web-page which consists of a number of pieces of vintage jewellery that has been redesigned and reworked into more contemporary settings. Each piece is designed in Violet Vintage's London studio and handmade by an artisan jeweller in Lincoln. Each item is 'exquisitely boxed in our signature Violet Vintage packaging' and if it's a gift your after your personal message can be written on a sweet little card and popped into the pretty box. Gorgeous.

I know it's fab to rummage through boot sales, vintage fairs and flea markets (and being a student studying what I'm studying I do thankfully have the time to do this and enjoy it) but for those without a second to spare the site is perfect.

Here's some of my favourites..

1950's Vintage Stratton gold robin beauty compact £38

Silver Tone Oui & Non Disc Pendant £24

Solid gold vintage whistle charm on Edwardian chain £250

Vintage 1960's simple gold and pearl ring £85

Beautiful 1920s Blue Ballerina Compact £84

Vintage gold tone leaf bracelet £50

'Look' Trend

When looking through this weeks issue of Look magazine I came across some trend pages which link nicely with our shoot. The tribal earrings especially and the embellished warrior shoulder which we tried to create with the use of bundled necklaces over laying Lucy’s shoulder.

Uni...

Hey ho so im back at uni, and i don't have the internet but should be getting it soon so there will be a little loss of blogging..as you can see sorry!

Lets get to the fab stuff...

My last blog i posted was about the autumn/winter trend-tartan, and like i said if you want some tartan get yourself off to primark, some of the tartan lovelies they have there are amazing. I bought Look mag yesterday and there was this really cool quirky shoot from Primark (not a huge shoot but a shot of some of the goodies they have in their a/w collection!) and the dresses there are amazing! They are so on trend! With their peplum esque dresses and huge bows on just about everything. If you have bought yourself any high end fashion mag you will have definately have seen the old english, D&G advertisements with every model wearing tartan! They are fabulous!

Whilst being at uni too i have noticed nearly everyone wearing the stuff, this gives me a rebelious attitude but the stuff is so cool and easily worn with anything i find. (Make note to self-Ashleigh take your camera around with you!!) Next week i am gonna try and blag my way into fashion week and if not take some little street style shots of the people trying to get in!

"Deer Friend"... any more collections?

I saw another Topshop range in this weeks Look magazine, named (so apt) Deer Friend, and i think its gonna be very popular! I kinda got a mad hatter feeling about the range; the pieces look really playful, there's plenty of colour and lots of graphic prints. I specifically like the blouse shown in Look- it has a repeated graphic print all over, the colours are quite neutral, the print is a small black deer with an added shot of bubblegum pink and violet. The blouse has a huge black bow just below the scooped collar. At £32 too! Bargain! I'm not usually one for colour but i see a little change in style for me! I'm unable to find photos of the collection on the net so buy Look and you will see it in there, page 5.

Hooch autumn Collection, glamorous?

The brand Hooch is very well hiden, or is it that bad a brand that you just don't hear of it? So when i saw an article in this weeks Look magazine stating that Hooch has a new 'grown-up glam autumn collection coming out i decided to look for the store on the net, and it really didn't come up with that much. When i was younger i bought my first piece of Hooch clothing from the clotheshow live, it was an ochre hoody! When researcing the webpages selling Hooch clothing, i was a little confused as to the statement in the mag because when i was looking through the cothing most of the items are very street wear and the garments looked like young fashion pieces, maybe this is their way of saying 'hello we are still here!'. This almost image overhaul i think will bring in new customers, maybe this is what the brand needs because if i didn't pick up this weeks Look magazine (as millions of other ladies do!) then we wouldnt have even thought of the brand as being glamorous, or we may not have even thought about Hooch. I gotta say though the images in Look mag showing the new collection looks fab, the clothes are well on trend with the checks and the pretty prints. Also well done Hooch for getting your hands on it model of the mo Portia Freeman!
