Vintage at Goodwood

I would have loved to have gone to Vintage at Goodwood; seeing all the clothes, the amazing styling, the accessories everything....and I kinda did (-ish) with having the internet you really do have the world at your fingertips. I have seen so many street style shots from the amazing event. Ladies and gents dressed in 30's, 40's, 50's clothing is great to look at. I have a feeling that some of the 'vintage pieces' worn may not be authentic vintage pieces but still highly vintage inspired.

So after looking through a ton of images I've picked a few of my favourites.

This is very new season prada: the beehive, the pattern on the clothing..the yummy clasp ladylike bag. Love the look.

This 60's look is very now too, very 'The like' bands' styling, if you check out my past post you can see the massive resemblance.

I love the silhouette of this dress and the natural colour tones in the ornate pattern are stunning too. The hair accessory is gorgeous and very 1950's.

I love this womans look, the bottle green beret, the pencil skirt, the ladylike handbag..very french working girl.

Simply natural

This photo is just stunning, the mix of fabrics, the natural light, it's such an honest photograph and the colour palette is gorgeous.

Experimentation

As a group we needed to test our street style shots on the projector to see what sort of effect the imagery had and wether it would work for us on the day of the shoot. Below are a couple of shots from the experimentation shoot.

We realised from the experimentation shoot that the children would need to be wearing the simplest of pale clothing to get the full effect of the projected image. We also decided that the street styling images we chose needed to be of characters who looked really interesting and that their clothing had to be eye catching and a little more complex than just a plain t with black jeans outfit. The photographers also became very interested in the shadows of the characters aswell as the person.

Meeting with group.

After our session today me, Moira, Marie and Adam (my group for the photography project) had a cheeky drink at the pub whilst going through our ideas for the shoot thats needing to be shot over the next two weeks for our hand in (8th feb- we are busy busy busy).

These are my notes I took from our discussion:

-street style
-roles
-children fashionable?
-Milk magazine (French)- a shoot in mag, projected images onto children
-playing with a ‘Grown-up’ idea - ‘Big’ the film, think about Suri Cruise -roles of children?
-look at portrait shots- what Polaroid does/means?
-Role reversal

Point of Action-
-casting- street styles- go through Preston look at street style, take photos of people in different occupations (links to the DSM Label s/s10-mechanics)
-call mum ask for jack-to model (11 year old)
-need to book studios
-play with projector- projecting images onto ourselves

Street Style

As a fashion student i really should take my camera with me everywhere, and today i learnt my lesson! I went into leeds to do a little shopping (+ visit 3 cities-more in a bit) and i saw what can only be described as a brown leather dress shoe in the middle of the city and then weirdly i saw in my hometown, a jacket on the street floor! Maybe there is a naked guy running around leeds?!! Street Style communicated- literally!

Yeh like i just mentioned i felt like i had actually visited 3 cities today. Leeds to start with-strolling down the central road looking in all the lovely high street stores-Topshop, H&M, Lush oh my! Then secondly Tokyo, we went to the fab restaurant Little Tokyo-the food was unbelievable, i ordered Crystal Prawn duplings to start, then my main (i felt very greedy!) was Teryaki beef in a food box-the presentation was stunning and the food was so good, if you ever can get to a Little Tokyo i would definately recommend buying one of these. It consisted of japanese salad which was stunning:coated in rice vinegar, tempura vegetables with soy sauce, rice with seseme seeds and finally the Teryaki beef-mmm..

Then in the afternoon i bought (very late i know!) the denim issue of Nylon (which is obviously american). So i travelled millions of miles in a saturday!

What a fab day! x
